Summary

From the star of MTV’s The Hills and The Hills: New Beginnings, a candid and insightful reflection on aughts tabloid fame, the powerlessness and loss of self in toxic situations, and the life-changing power of even our smallest choices。

If you know Audrina Patridge from one of the most successful reality shows ever, MTV’s The Hills, you know that she doesn’t pull punches。 For years, she hid the challenges she faced, but now, she’s finally sharing her full story for the first time—and it’s not a neat little story, tied with a bow。 This is the unvarnished truth about being young and carefree in Los Angeles, filming The Hills, and getting access to the most exclusive parties, decadent restaurants, and VIP clubs。 It’s also the unvarnished truth about darker days, when she lost her confidence, her voice, and even her self-worth as she was pushed to the brink of losing almost everything。

Just like The Hills, Audrina is back and better than ever。 In Choices, she’s baring it all: the nearly soul-crushing struggles, the beauty of finally reclaiming her power, and the incredible experiences and behind-the-scenes details of The Hills。 This is the story of an eighteen-year-old girl who took a chance and had the experience of a lifetime on a reality TV phenomenon that made her a household name and tabloid regular。 But it’s also the story of a thirty-six-year-old woman and mother who regained her voice after years in a series of unfulfilling and even toxic relationships。 Deeply insightful and wonderfully entertaining, Choices is a story of redemption, renewed strength, and reckoning with the choices we make。

Patridge worked with a ghost writer, Jen Schuster, and the writing came off as natural and conversational。 I devoured the audiobook and was surprised at some of her revelations about her celebrity encounters。 Although she was candid about her love life, I did find it interesting that she didn’t address ‘why’ she was attracted to these toxic men。 She was so raw and open that I found myself expecting more of a deep dive into the psychology behind her struggles; however, she certainly has a right t Patridge worked with a ghost writer, Jen Schuster, and the writing came off as natural and conversational。 I devoured the audiobook and was surprised at some of her revelations about her celebrity encounters。 Although she was candid about her love life, I did find it interesting that she didn’t address ‘why’ she was attracted to these toxic men。 She was so raw and open that I found myself expecting more of a deep dive into the psychology behind her struggles; however, she certainly has a right to share what she wants to share。 After the pain of her marriage, I’m glad to see she’s thriving now。 I really enjoyed this celebrity memoir。Thank you to @simon。audio for this review copy。 The opinions are my own。 。。。more

I read this because I was a huge fan of The Hills。 I’m not into reality tv at all but when I was younger Laguna Beach & The Hills had me; I was hooked。 I enjoyed learning more about Audrina and her life and I also loved how she shared her faith。 She’s been in a lot of toxic relationships and she shares that in the book and how she overcame them。Overall it was enjoyable but I didn’t love it。

Living My Best Book Life

So, this is the real Audrina! That is the first thing that came to mind after I finished reading Choices。 It's such an insightful and emotional memoir with deep and profound writing。 I grew up watching The Hills and one of my favorites was always Audrina。 She seemed cool and edgy and totally not like your typical LA girl。 Like so many, I could tell how kind of a person she was, and to see how she was treated on the show by others especially her then-boyfriend Justin Bobby left a bad taste in my So, this is the real Audrina! That is the first thing that came to mind after I finished reading Choices。 It's such an insightful and emotional memoir with deep and profound writing。 I grew up watching The Hills and one of my favorites was always Audrina。 She seemed cool and edgy and totally not like your typical LA girl。 Like so many, I could tell how kind of a person she was, and to see how she was treated on the show by others especially her then-boyfriend Justin Bobby left a bad taste in my mouth。 So to read about her struggles with self-worth, confidence, and powerlessness in situations both made some sense and broke my heart。Audrina told the story of her upbringing and how close to her family she was。 She talked about how she ended up on The Hills and her time while she was on the show。 And she talked about her personal life while on the show and all the way up until now。 There will be readers that are just waiting for her to spill the tea but don't be fooled。 Any time that she brings up people or talks about certain situations she isn't doing it to bash others but to show how it helped her on her journey of reclaiming her power and finally learning that's its okay to put her happiness first。 As Audrina talked about her time on the show I saw how she didn't like confrontation or hurting others even though it was almost always required by producers on the show。 She learned to just go with the flow putting her emotions and feelings on the backburner。 As she went on about her friends and relationships, in particular, her relationships with Justin Bobby and her ex Corey my heart hurt so much for her。 Just when you think celebrities have it all you are reminded how they are just humans like all of us。 She mentions how she not only put men's needs above hers but she began to lose her power and confidence in the midst of it all。 When she wasn't treated right, she swept it aside because she remembered the good in these people。 As I was reading, I felt like shaking her to help her see that she is worth so much more than this。 But I also took a step back because it's truly easier said than done。 When you're in a relationship and in the moment its so easy to get wrapped up in love especially when you face tough times。 Even though it was hard to hear about the abuse and trauma she had to go through I was happy to read about her life as a mother。 Those moments of her finding out she was pregnant and then taking care of her daughter was a pivotal moment in her life。 Her daughter was able to give her the courage to take charge of her life again。 She was able to leave a toxic relationship and find herself again。 And that is truly beautiful。 I give Choices 5 stars。 Audrina Patridge wrote a telling book about personal challenges and growth。 Her vulnerability is so courageous and I applaud her for it。 To see how far she has come puts a smile on my face。 Audrina put in the work and it has paid off。 She is a strong woman, motivated, a wonderful mother, and DESERVES HAPPINESS。 I look forward to seeing her take the world by storm! 。。。more
